- Magic Kingdom -

Wow!!! Is the first and foremost thought that comes to mind when I think of the Magic Kingdom. By far my favorite Park in Walt Disney World. I do struggle with this at times….because I am a big Star Wars Nut and Love Hollywood Studios. All the Parks at Walt Disney World are awesome. Just being on the property makes me feel great.

But, for this Disney Nut, the Magic Kingdom is where it's at.

The Magic Kingdom opened to the general public on October 23rd, 1971, having an entire weekend dedicated to the opening. Originally having 6 individually themed lands;

 Main Street, U.S.A.

 Tomorrowland

Fantasyland

Liberty Square

Frontierland

& Adventureland

Later on in 1988 Mickey's Birthdayland was added, which later evolved into Mickey's Starland, then Mickey's Toontown Fair, and then finally what you have today; Storybook Circus.

Magic Kingdom is also the first Park built at Walt Disney World Resort.

To me this is the Heart of the Magic at Walt Disney World.

There's So much to do at the Magic Kingdom, and it's growing….especially now that they've made the announcements at D23 for the Villain's Land expansion, the addition of the two Car's Attractions, and a Nighttime Parade. But as many know this will come with some sacrifices. Like the fact that Disney also announced they will be doin away with Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America to make room for this 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' expansion.

Tomorrowland

This is a great ride for getting a good view above Tomorrowland and more. It is a ride type commonly known as a "spinner" or aerial carousel-type Attraction that is fairly high up too. You start out on a deck at about 80 feet when you get into the rocket and it flies up to like 36 feet once the ride gets going. You can control your elevation via stick control; forward to lower and pull back to climb, with the ride spinning at eleven rotations per minute, and last about a minute and a half. The strongest centrifugal force feeling you'll get is right at the end, and it's not much.

When originally opened in 1974 at the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World it was named Star Jets, which had a Saturn style rocket at the center of the Attraction. Almost exactly like Rocket Jets of Disneyland at the time. But was revamped and reopened in the mid-90's as part of "The New Tomorrowland" look. The rockets are newer designs with the center and outer parts of the Attraction representing planets as though the rockets are flying through space. Really classic style Ride with a newer look that is a great Attraction for all ages.

Original design was built as AstroJets, a Tomorrowland Attraction in Disneyland that opened in 1956. Later on it was renamed Rocket Jets and was commonly referred to as the Tomorrowland Jets. When the Attraction first opened in Disneyland, it had its own ticket booth and from what I can tell.....costs were about 20 to 35 cents to ride then. The original Attraction had names for the Jets which were based on bright stars in the sky like; Castor, Procyon, and Altair. This was before the space program got off the ground, per say, so I guess naming rockets had a different approach back then.

This is one of my favorite rides. I'm not sure exactly why....but it is. I guess because it's simple and usually has little to no line later in the evening, when I like to target this Attraction. It's rough, short, and only goes so fast.....but it's cooool. I do....I really enjoy this ride.

This Goofy themed Attraction is based on the fascinating age in aviation known as Barnstorming, or also known as Flying Circuses of the 1920's.

The Attraction was originally built and opened October 1st, 1996 as 'The Barnstormer' at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm in what was then called 'Mickey's Toontown Fair'....Fantasyland until 2011. Re-opening in 2012 after being slightly re-themed 'The Barnstormer' featuring Goofy as the Great Goofini for 'Storybook Circus' during the Fantasyland remodel from 2011 to 2014.

The ride itself is a fairly straightforward junior roller coaster ride…..you board your biplane….starting right off taking you straight up a 30' chain lift hill….then cutting you loose for a 40 second ride of drops and twists at about 25 mph. Also keep in mind this is a kiddie type Attraction that has a smaller seating area that does accommodate adults….but can be a little tight.

By far one of the best Disney Parks Rides ever!!!

A great little coaster, having a cool background theme that few know much about. The story is based on a once prosperous little mining town called Tumbleweed, which was centered around a greedy mining company owned by Barnabas T. Bullion. But unbeknownst to the pioneers that Big Thunder Mountain was once sacred land to the Native Americans that had now become cursed. Constantly dealing with unexplained disasters and mysterious events that hindered operations. Driven by greed, Barnabas refused to  give up. But, ultimately the town of Tumbleweed was decimated by a flash flood and became a ghost town. A little while later the locomotives were spotted running on their own, with no operators. It is said that the locomotives are now cursed and mad.

All Aboard…."The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness!!!"

When entering this Attraction you'll be immersed into the mine company's office of the late 1800's. Big Thunder Mountain is sculpted to resemble the American Southwest and the queue area is filled with authentic equipment from the mining industry of that era. Also one of the first Disney Attractions that was built using Computer Aided Design. Originally designed in Walt Disney World in 1974, but had been approved and opened in Disneyland first. My understanding is that Big Thunder Mountain at Walt Disney World had been started but then postponed to push on the opening of Space Mountain. It opened in Disneyland September 2, 1979….with Walt Disney World opening September 23, 1980.

Must be 40” (102cm) or taller…..Kids, Adults, Teens, Tweens…..Thrill Ride, Small Drops

I Love to go to the Parks, read about Disney, buy Disney (old & new), represent Disney, talk and write about Disney etc, so there will be More to Come….

Besides….there's so much that can be covered when it comes to the Magic Kingdom.
